1. Introduction
1.1. This photography competition is an activity for 2017 Founders Day, it is open to ALL.
1.2 The theme of the competition is linked to the Founders Day theme ‘ The Greatness of Ordinary Life’ All entries should be linked to this. Photos should depict ordinary, everyday activities among students and staff, eg. in the lecture theatres, at the cafeteria, helping a friend, busy in the library etc.
1.3. There will be 2 categories for the competition: a) Professional Category b) People’s Choice
1.4. The People’s Choice award is for those photos that will attract the MOST re-tweets on Twitter, and LIKES on Instagram and Facebook.
1.5. The Professional Category is for those photos that display skill, talent and creativity in the photos taken. This gives a chance to those who are very talented to showcase their skill in photography.
1.6 All the photos entered should be posted on the social media pages with a caption explaining what is happening and with the THREE hashtags #StrathFoundersDay , #TECNOSpark #LightUpYourDream
1.7 The Communications Office will monitor the #hashtag and re-tweet and share all photos that are entered in the competition.
2. Copyrights and Intellectual Property
2.1 Each image submitted must be original and should not have been published for commercial purposes.
2.2 The participants shall retain the copyright to the picture entered for the competition.
2.3 By submitting a picture for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having accepted and agreed to be bound by the rules and regulations of the competition and granted the organiser, Strathmore University, royalty-free permissions to use the photo (s) for promotional or educational purposes (e.g. print and digital posters).
2.4 People featured in the picture must also accept and agree with the rules and regulations of this competition. It is the entire responsibility of the participants in the competition to inform and to get the permissions of all the people photographed in the submitted pictures.
3. Judging and Results
3.1 The organizer, Strathmore University, has invited a renown professional in photography to judge the submitted photos and a score each participant.
3.2 Results will be announced during the Students Cocktail on October 5th 2017.
4. Prizes
4.1 Strathmore University will recognize and award prizes for the winners and winning photos will be printed and posted on all noticeboard on campus.
