VC hosts the Africa Silver medalists

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof J. Odhiambo hosted the university’s women’s hockey team to a luncheon to celebrate their silver medal won at Africa Club Championships held last month in Kampala. Making their second appearance at the championships, the ladies were in top form and won all their preliminary matches to reach the finals unbeaten.

 

Together with the Vice-chancellor were members of the university’s academic council and the management board at the luncheon. In his address to the hockey team, the vice chancellor lauded their efforts and appreciated the good work they did while representing the university at the continental games. ” We are proud of you, you have put Strathmore sports and the university at large once again on the continental map, this silver medal goes a long way to prove that students with the right mentoring and support can excel both in classwork and sports and in the process develop their personalities. I wish you well in the 2014 season and may  your efforts always bear fruits” he concluded.

 

This was the 2nd continental medal the had university won, the men’s hockey team also won a silver medal in 2011 at the Africa Hockey Club championships held in Zambia still under Mr. Meshack Senge the university hockey head coach.
