Top KCSE Students -2013 benefit from Strathmore Scholarship

Angela Nzisa Kivuva and Alex Rwengo-, who topped in Nakuru County, are beneficiaries of the Strathmore Scholarship Fund. They will be soon be joining Strathmore University to study the courses of their dreams. Angela who was also the best female candidate countrywide, will be pursuing Bachelor of Business Science, Financial Economics, while Alex Rwengo will be pursuing Bachelor of Business Science in Actuarial Science. Both Angela and Alex- alumni of Moi High School Kabarak are entitled to the full 4-year scholarships; they received the good news from Dr. John Olukuru Dean, School of Finance & Applied Economics last week.
Dr Olukuru gave a peek into the milestones that the School of Finance and the University has covered in ensuring that bright students can access university education at Strathmore by partnering with industry players to provide scholarships to as many viable students as possible. Dean Olukuru narrated the journey that the university has made from the days when mathematics contests would be organised in high schools, with top students receiving scholarships to attend professional courses of CPA and ACCA.

In its structure, the University has a financial aid office and a scholarship committee that ensures the process of awarding scholarships is efficient and awards are on merit through the laid down processes and procedures.
Available scholarships
The 2014 July intake has immense scholarship opportunities available to top KCSE students, who meet all entrance requirements as per the entry criteria. The University has partnered with I & M Bank, CfC Stanbic Bank, East African Breweries, Safaricom among other top corporates to provide scholarships to bright students.
SFAE will soon be independently awarding scholarships to bright students. This initiative, which seeks to enable many students get access to quality education in Strathmore, has led to SFAE pioneering independent scholarships which will be ran by the alumni body of the faculty. The incentive from the alumni class of 2014 will fundraise for the scholarships, through the help of The Preferential Trade Area bank (P.T.A), Afreximbank (African Export-Import Bank) and the African Development bank, who have partnered with the institution.
Angela expressed her joy and gratitude to Strathmore University, stating that the opportunity is a motivating factor for her to be the best she can in her endeavors of soaring to greater heights. Alex on the other hand, quoted the C.E.O of Centum; James Mworia- an alumni of Strathmore, mentioning that he is eagerly looking forward to the Strathmore experience of excellence.
