Three Strathmore University players represent Kenya at the World Hockey League II in Uruguay

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Three Strathmore University hockey players, reputable as Scorpions, are currently representing Kenya at the World hockey league II in Uruguay which takes place from the 14th to 22nd February 2015. World hockey league II is an international hockey tournament, which leads to qualifications into the hockey world cup, commonwealth games and Olympics. Kenya is playing in World hockey league II after winning World league series I which was held in Nairobi in late 2014.

 

The Kenya team departed on the 12th for the tournament. The three Strathmore Scorpions players who made the cut to carry the country’s flag are; Rachel Ousa, Elizabeth Ngombo and Yvonne Karanja. Yvonne Karanja is the national team’s vice captain and was also the Africa Women’s Hockey Club Championship top scorer in 2013 where Strathmore won silver medal.

 

Kenya will play against France, Italy, Azerbaijan and hosts Uruguay. The winner of this group proceeds to world league III, which gives an Olympic qualification.
