Students Enjoy Mentoring over Lunch Program with British Chamber of Commerce CEO

The Career Development Services (CDS) at Strathmore University aims to support and develop students by providing the tools and forums needed to enhance their employability and facilitate employers meet the wealth of talent available in Strathmore students. Personal career mentoring is an important aspect of a student’s career journey, where they get an opportunity to listen and ask questions about career choices and how to become professionally successful. It is for this reason that CDS introduced a Mentoring over Lunch Program where 2 students are mentored by successful professionals and are asked to share their experiences.

The first students to enjoy this privilege were Robert Muigai and Naomi Ngeno who recently met with Jonathan Huxley – British Chamber of Commerce CEO. They each shared one major thing they learnt from the time spent with the CEO.

The One thing that I learnt from Mr. Huxley is to take a career path that excites you, but one that is acquired at the right time.

Robert Muigai – 4th year, Strathmore Law School.

Mr. Huxley taught me that knowing what my purpose is shapes my career and grants me satisfaction in what I do. I also learnt that thinking win-win goes a long way in the corporate world.

Naomi Ngeno-4th Year, BCOM Finance

CDS intends to continue providing such platforms to students in future with the hope of connecting as many students as possible to the industry leaders.
