Student Council Chairman represents Strathmore and Kenya at the 2014 All Africa Union Conference

The Strathmore University Student Council Chairman Festus Ogindo represented the university and Kenya at the 2014 All  Africa Students Union conference held in Accra Ghana in July.  The theme of this year’s summit was ‘Curbing Terrorism Insurgence in Africa’.


The Summit begun on 28th of July 2014 and was officially opened by the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ghana her Excellency Tendai Musaka and Ghanaian minister for youth and sports Mr. Mahama Ayariga.

 

There were several presentations from various regional heads of delegations across the continent and Strathmore University through Festus Ogindo gave a presentation on ’ The roles of Women and children in curbing terrorism Insurgence’.

 

The summit concluded with elections of new office bearers for the All Africa Students Union, Strathmore President contested and got elected and sworn in as the Vice-President of All African Student Union (AASU).

 

AASU’s main aim is to work with the youth in solving current problems facing the African countries. The report on the one-week summit with is finding and proposals were forwarded to the African Union by his Excellency Kofi Annan, former United Nations Sec Gen who is one of the patrons of the union.

 

AASU also awarded the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Africa President of the year award, Festus Ogindo received the award on his behalf, on arrival the award was forwarded to the President’s office and was received with compliments.
