Monday 26th Feb 2018, Strathmore University’s @iLabAfrica Research & Innovation Centre and BitHubAfrica (which trades as Space Kenya Networks Limited) signed a Memorandum of agreement (MOU).

The purpose of the MOU is to establish a framework of collaboration to jointly conduct a research project dubbed, “Application of Blockchain technology in the energy sector”.

In this research, a pilot project to sustainably mine cryptocurrency using solar energy is set to begin soon, with the objective of scaling this project to other applications of Blockchain.

The collaboration will also offer opportunities for students and professionals in the technology industry to be trained on Blockchain programming skills and therefore enhancing capacity in this critical growth sector.

Blockchain technology, is expected to advance transparency and accountability in governance through immutable storage of data and transactional records.
