Strathmore University Enhances Financial Management with Next Generation of Software

 

rSmart, provider of higher education technology solutions built on open source Kuali software, partnered with Strathmore University to successfully upgrade their Kuali Financial System (KFS) to Version 5. The new system optimizes business processes in the areas of accounts payable, receiving, and capital asset management.

 

In 2007, rSmart helped Strathmore University move away from their paper-based processes and implement the first Kuali Financial System in the world. Five years later, Strathmore again partnered with rSmart, a Kuali Commercial Affiliate, to help their team move to the newest version of KFS. The project included the delivery of functional consulting and training, technical consulting and training, implementation services, and the use of configuration tools developed by rSmart.

 

“Completing our KFS implementation on time and under budget required a highly collaborative and aggressive team effort. We went live in January, meeting our 6-month implementation goal. I am very thankful to rSmart for providing us the necessary tools, dedicated resources, and expertise,” said Vincent Ndoloka, Finance Manager at Strathmore University.

 

For Strathmore, some of their biggest achievements include developing a new electronic document to process payments and creating an interface between KFS and their e-banking platform and cash-in-transit transactions.

 

Since their go-live one week ago, they have:

 

?    Logged more than 40 users in the system
?    Created more than 400 electronic workflow documents including 120 cash receipts and over 60 payments
?    Imported more than 200 transactions from their students module
