Strathmore University Decides; 9th Student Council Elected

This year’s Student Council Elections were fiercely contested with a record twenty eight candidates vying for various positions, with the deciding factor for some of the posts being as little as two votes.
The voting process went on smoothly and took place in the music room on the 3rd Floor of the Student Centre Building, on Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The tallying of the votes was done thereafter in the Sir Thomas More Building Auditorium from 6.15 p.m. with the results being announced at 7.30 p.m.
Prior to the Election Day, the campaign period was a busy one for the prospective candidates who went from class to class relentlessly trying to garner the support of their fellow students, convincing them on why they should be elected into office.
Candidates exuded innovation in their campaigning as most candidates came up with posters, videos and even memes, combined with the prolific use of social media to its full potential, in an effort to gain the necessary support and garner the votes.
The successful candidates who were elected for the 9th Student Council are as follows:
President – Alex Ndegwa (LLB 4th Year)
Vice President – Luqman Hussein (BBS FE 3rd Year)
Secretary General – Joan Kiama (LLB 4th Year)
Public Relations Executive – Jermaine Coelho (BBS FIN 3rd Year)
Financial Executive – Winny Makena (BCOM FIN 3rd Year)
Male Academic Executive – Jeffrey Murerwa (BBS FE 3rd Year)
Female Academic Executive – Shirley Cynthia (BBS FIN 3rd Year)
Male Sports Executive – Lesalon Scaver (BCOM FIN 3rd Year)
Female Sports Executive – Emmaculate Owiro (BICS 3rd Year)
