Strathmore to host Social Good Summit 2013

Innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists will gather at the renowned Strathmore University on September 24, 2013 to add their voices to this years Social Good Summit. Now in its fourth year, the SGS was started to investigate how key individuals are pioneering social efforts that will leave lasting impacts.
The Social Good Summit family already includes over 1.5 million people who have participated in person, online, or as part of the +SocialGood platform.
We look forward to even more people around the region joining the conversation via social media as they watch and listen to panelists on a live web stream discuss creative ways to tackle issues like democracy, conservation, health and food security.
The Summit has explored the power of technology to instantly connect us together, donate to a charity in one click, disseminate news as its happening, and break barriers of access in the most remote parts of the world.
In 2013, however, we are challenging the nature of instant gratification and our current digital culture. This years theme, #2030NOW, will support the United Nations post-2015 development agenda by asking: how do we use innovation now to build our future?
While holding a global conversation of this nature holds certain challenges in terms of coverage and reporting, it has also given us the opportunity to create a Digital Lounge – at the same venue – where print and online journalists will be able to follow the panels, alongside social media enthusiasts and digital activists alike.
Kindly register here if you would like to cover the event. The live stream details will be made available in the days leading up to the Summit, however you can already join the conversation here: #2030NOW
