Strathmore-Softlock Digital Security Academy Launched
On the 13th September 2013, Strathmore University through @iLabAfrica officially launched the Strathmore-Softlock Digital Security Academy. The partnership will see Softlock, a global leader in Digital Security bring on board the technology and expertise required to train experts in IT security. @iLabAfrica will pioneer the training in Strathmore University.
The Academy will offer four main training tracks targeting business executives, IT Security managers, IT security technicians and software developers. These include:
- IT Security Business Track
- IT Security Specialist Track
- IT Security Technical Track
- Software Developers Track
The need for Digital and Information Security experts cannot be over emphasized. Today, more than ever information security risks are real and glaring. In his opening remarks Dr Sevilla noted that the advancement of access to the Internet and increase in Internet users also introduced IT security risks such as violation of privacy, hacking and Cyber Crime. There is a gap for IT security experts in the country, and it is a dream come true for Strathmore University to launch a Digital Security Academy, that will go a long way training experts to fill this Gap.
Abdurahman Al-kassar, a senior manager at Softlock expressed his optimism and expectations about the partnership between Strathmore University and @iLabAfrica. He noted that experts trained here will not only serve Kenya but the whole of Africa.
The launch was held at a high level breakfast meeting in Strathmore Business School. It attracted Information security professionals from different corporates and companies in Nairobi as well as representatives from government and the Ministry of Defense.
