Strathmore Law Clinic Participate in Legal Aid Day Event

Strathmore Law Clinic participated in a Legal Aid Day event that took place in Homa Bay County, on 24th November, 2017.
The event was hosted by KELIN a Non-Governmental Organization based in Nairobi, with the theme; The facilitation of access to justice by young girls and women affected by Sexual and Gender-Based violence.
The Law Clinic was represented by its Vice-President, Mr. Abdullahi Ali, and Ms. Kasyoka Mutunga, a Graduate Assistant at Strathmore Law School.
Executive Director KELIN, Mr. Alan Macheche, gave the keynote address highlighting the importance of justice to young girls and women, who are vulnerable to sexual and gender-based violence.
The First Lady of Homa Bay County, Mrs. Rocila Awiti discussed the proliferation of sexual and gender-based violence in Kenya, citing Legal Aid Day as one of the many avenues in which the topic can be discussed and citizens highlighted on how to curb the vice.
After the speeches, Law Clinic representatives joined other organizations in providing legal services to the area residents through free legal clinics.
