Strathmore Kenya MUN Students attend lecture at UN Headquarters

You are among few lucky people in this world, who are concerned about the future of our planet. The words of Mr. S.G. Alliason, UN Deputy Sec. General to his audience, when club members of the Strathmore Kenya Model United Nations (KUM) had the privilege of listening to him during the UN Day 24th October, 2013.
Mr. S.G. Jan Alliason, an engaging, wise and eloquent orator, spoke on the role of the youth in the future of Africa and the world. There is a world outside your country he challenged. He shared words of wisdom, enlightening the university students and diplomatic corps and emphasized on responsibility in using the natural resources as he argued, The world might have lots of plan Bs but we do not have a Planet B.
According to Mr. Alliason There is no peace without development just like there is no development without peace and there will never be lasting peace without respect of human rights. He invited the students to develop linkages that can assist in solving social and individual challenges since We live in a world where issues are interconnected; it is high time we stop thinking vertically and start thinking horizontally.
During the Q & A session, the university students got an opportunity to impress the Deputy Sec General with well thought-out and highly intellectual questions in a wide range of topics from food security, to ICC issues, peace keeping missions, and even questioning the role of UN in the world. Mr. Jan Alliason put his best in answering all the questions.
