Strathmore Institute of Mathematical Sciences Tree Planting

“Until you dig a hole, you plant a tree, you water it and make it survive, you haven’t done a thing. You are just talking” the late Prof. Wangari Mathai
The rate at which Kenya is losing forests is alarming and cannot be ignored, therefore members of Strathmore University Institute of Mathematical Sciences chose to initiate a 2018 agenda to plant trees at Karura forest.
In the month of March, the department engaged in tree planting exercises symbolizing the main strategic pillars of the school, namely, student experience, research and innovation, business development, and service to society.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson mentioned, the creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn. SIMs, therefore, challenges other members of the university to not just talk but dig a hole, plant a tree, water it and make it survive.
