Strathmore hosts the Sports Disputes Tribunal

The office of the Dean of Students hosted the sports disputes tribunal on Friday 4th March, for the Tribunal’s rules validation workshop. The workshop was attended by not only the tribunal members but also by officials from national sports federations and county sports officials from all over Kenya. The Sports Disputes Tribunal was formed under the Sports Act 2013 and its main role is to hear and give verdicts on appeals against decisions made by sports teams and other sports bodies in Kenya.
The Tribunal chairman Mr. John Ohaga termed the validation workshop as a great success and he looks forward to a good working relationship with all sports federations.
Strathmore University has been at the forefront of sports development in the country not only contributing players and coaches for the following national teams: Rugby, Basketball, Hockey, Volleyball , Handball and Archery, but also training national federations in good governance and management. Over the last 4 years the office of the Dean of Students has organised two programmes in sports governance and management namely, Sports Governance and Management that was funded by the Dutch Embassy in Nairobi and the Sports Managers programme in conjunction with Wits Business School and sponsored by Supersport South Africa.
