Strathmore hosts members of the Education Collaborative

On Thursday 21 April 2022, Strathmore hosted leaders from universities in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Ghana who form the East African Hub of the Education Collaborative.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed priorities for the EA Hub, regional engagement initiatives, identifying pivotal partnerships, and sharing experiences around student employability and entrepreneurial outcomes.
Present during the meeting were leaders from Rongo University (Kenya); Strathmore University (Kenya); Riara University (Kenya); University of Embu (Kenya); USIU Africa (Kenya); Cavendish University (Uganda); Davis College (Rwanda); Kepler (Rwanda) and Ashesi University (Ghana).
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Vincent Ogutu, Strathmore’s Vice-Chancellor Designate, reiterated that higher education institutions know they cannot educate everyone; therefore, their impact has to have to be exemplary, designing models that others can learn from and adjust to suit their context.
Rose Dodd, Director of the Education Collaborative, explained that the regional hub approach allows higher education institutions to customize best practices learned from peer institutions across Africa to suit their unique contexts.
The Education Collaborative is an initiative of Ashesi University. The initiative brings together a network of higher learning institutions that are committed to driving systemic change across Africa and raising the bar for higher education outcomes.
Starting from East Africa, the Education Collaborative looks to scale impact across the continent through a regional hub approach that works through clusters of exemplary African universities.
Strathmore was invited to the Education Collaborative in 2021 and has participated in several activities and initiatives.
