Strathmore Chinese Club attend Spring Festival Event

The spring festival celebration organized by the Confucius Institute of Kenyatta University, was held at Bishop square, Kenyattta University on February 4th 2016. The very successful event undoubtedly appreciated the many students and staff who came to visit, by giving students an opportunity to experience the Chinese culture and also, enjoy a platform that would inspire students to get together by interaction in the different games and exchange views learning from each other.

The Strathmore Chinese Club were among the many students that were represented at the event. They were different kinds of exhibitions that were set up which included the use of chopsticks, cutting Chinese patterns, guessing a word from a sentence and writing in characters. In order to participate in the ruffle, students were expected to participate in the four exhibitions. After participating and getting all the answers correct, students were given gifts such as nuts, pens, ribbons and even a lottery ticket.

There was also a Chinese traditional fashion show known as Hanfu. In between the entertainment, different schools performed with different songs. Moreover, Loise one of our students, sang a Chinese song by the name I Know. The teachers sang two songs, the popular Kenyan song Jambo and the well-known Chinese song Molihua.

The lottery ticket ruffle was conducted by a Chinese lecturer.  Tickets were picked at random by the VIPs of the event. The lucky students who participated in all the four activities and managed to get a ruffle ticket were randomly selected and won beautiful handbags.
