Strathmore Alumni Gala Dinner

In a colorful, elegant, and exciting way, Strathmore University Alumni Relations office hosted the inaugural Alumni Gala, which was set to celebrate alumni as well as launch the Strathmore Alumni Association. The African themed event saw the presence of alumni from as far back as the 60s to the present years attending.
Acting Director Advancement and External Relations, Mr. Eric Saulo was delighted for the successful event, stating that this was a celebration of the alumni legacy. His office has three functions in the university; Fundraising, Alumni Relations and Community Service.
The launched Alumni Association is set to include alumni associations from the various schools and faculties within Strathmore, set to strengthen the alumni activities of each faculty and school.
While giving his remarks, Guest of Honour Prof. Izael Da Silva, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and the Director of Strathmore Energy Research Centre, highlighted the pillars that govern the teaching at Strathmore. Prof. Izael stated that the university is in the business of developing good human beings, and not just graduates. As a result, focusing on ethics and mentoring is key in providing these kinds of human beings.
The interim Chairperson of the Strathmore Alumni Association, Mr. Anthony Ndegwa, expressed his delight of the new launch, stating that such associations foster family units built at Strathmore. Mr. Ndegwa also discussed the successes that followed Strathmore alumni in the job market. The key distinction about the people of Strathmore, is that they stand out, he said.
Alumnus Tim Kipchumba, Director of QuestWorks Limited, bagged the Strathmore Alumni Entrepreneur of the year award, the first award of its kind. Other members of the alumni who achieved various achievements while at Strathmore were also recognized for their great work with certificates.
The exciting event ended with dance as the guests enjoyed a networking session.
