SMC Students Participate in SU Marketing Round Table Forum

In an exciting, fruitful and fun way, Strathmore’s School of Management and Commerce (SMC) marketing students, which comprised of over 100 students, participated in the Strathmore University Marketing Round Table Forum, hosted by SMC. The forum’s sole purpose was to enlighten students while giving them an opportunity to interact and learn from marketing experts with/from companies across the country.

26 industry experts attended the event representing companies that included; DHL Worldwide Express Kenya, Virtual City Ltd, Strathmore Business School, GlaxoSmithKline Ltd, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Equity Group Ltd, Proctor & Gamble, Safaricom Ltd, Kenya Film Commission, Africana Marketing Consultancy, RBA, Ramco Group, and MSK.

At the forum’s plenary session, experts were given a few minutes to discuss topics that were asked by the moderator of the event Thrity Engineer-Mbuthia. The questions tackled an array of areas that affected marketers in the society today, these included; interview tips; brand image; understanding ones market; sustainability marketing; emerging trends in the marketing field today; customer relations and experiences; understanding ones brand; the importance of being on the know-how; what marketing entails towards ones brand and the customers, among other questions.

Students were then given an opportunity to interact on one on one basis with the experts during a roundtable session. This session allowed students to ask further questions on issues of their concern while at the same time learn a lot more from the experts in the different fields.

Students lauded the successful event urging SMC to organize many of this kind, not only for marketers, but for students in other fields to broaden their understanding. Student representative Tracy Braganza, while giving the vote of thanks, echoed these sentiments as she thanked the industry experts for taking time to attend the informative session.
