SLS hosts the Air Law Conference

Focusing on the recent developments affecting aviation liability, Strathmore University Law School (SLS) in collaboration with the Tito & Associates Advocates and Nyiha Mukoma & Co. Advocates hosted the Air Law Conference on May 30th and 31st, 2019. The conference was facilitated by Dr. Isaac Rutenberg, Director, Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology law (CIPIT), Prof. Wolf Muller Rostin, Kevin Patrick Durkin, partner at Clifford Law Offices (based in Chicago), Frank M. Pitre, partner at the Cotchett Pitre & McCarthy LLP (based in San Francisco), Robert Anthony Clifford, founder and senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, John Tito, partner at Tito & Associates Advocates and James Nyiha, senior partner at Nyiha, Mukoma & Co. Advocates.
Discussions in the conference were geared towards aviation insurance; liability of air carriers, aircraft and component parts manufacturers, aerospace regulators and air navigation service providers; strategies for negotiating settlements in aviation liability claims; aviation litigation in the USA – the case of non-USA residents suing in the USA, jurisdictions available under the Montreal Convention and comparative jurisprudence under the Warsaw Treaty System and the Montreal Convention of 1999. Strategies for negotiating settlements, the forums available for aviation liability claims and trial techniques were also discussed.
