SIMS and FIT Students Interact with Industries – Mini Career Fair

About 470 students from the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) and Strathmore Institute for Mathematical Sciences (SIMS) interacted with representatives from companies that included; Safaricom Ltd, Delberg, Liquid Telcom, McKinsey & Company, CoreTEC Systems & Solutions, GreenBell Comminications, Copy Cat Group, Unilever, Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks (KASIB), Grant Thornton, Ogilvy & Mather Africa, Gulf African Bank, Circle Digital Limited, Enegy Reserch Centre and Lixnet Technologies; at the SIMS and FIT mini career fair. The fair was held on 16th September, 2016 hosted by Strathmore University’s Career Development Services.

 

The fair gave students an opportunity to discover what different companies have to offer to enhance their careers, as well as, getting an opportunity to register and begin application processes for the different programs and opportunities available.

 

Safaricom representatives discussed the #HeforShe gender equality campaign initiated by UN women that attracted an influx of women students to their stand. SEMA mobile also had an opportunity to discuss their career options as they created awareness on their new product SemaPesa.

 

Strathmore University prides itself for having a premier CDS that has contributed to Strathmore graduates being the most preferred by employers.

 

To date, CDS has cultivated relationships with a wide range of employers in the private, public and non-governmental sectors. The office currently has a database of 2000 employers to whom they are committed to availing top talent.
