School of Management and Commerce Holds Third Marketing Round-table Event

Strathmore School of Management and Commerce, in conjunction with the Marketing Club, hosted a Marketing Roundtable event connecting 3rd and 4th year Bachelor of Commerce-Marketing students to industrial experts.

The event was attended by marketing professionals drawn from various companies that included Kenya Tourism Board, Standard Group Media, HELB, PZ Cussons, Marketing Africa Limited, Resolution Insurance, and IBM.

Marketing topics were discussed in areas of: Marketing success through sales; Agency marketing; Research in marketing – a practical approach; Marketing in government and quasi-government institutions; Brands and branding; and Marketing in retail.

Mr. Parmain ole Narikae – Managing Director Kenya Industrial Estates – discussed his views on the growth of the marketing space in government. These are exciting times for the marketing industry. The Government is increasingly recognizing the marketing profession, presenting many opportunities for upcoming marketers, he said.

In order to leverage on such opportunities, students were encouraged to be open to learning and to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.

Creative Director of MoSound Group – Denis Ndavi – emphasised on students openness stating that new opportunities present themselves regularly, and that they should therefore keep abreast of the latest developments.

Students also engaged in a question and answer session where they had an opportunity to interact and network with the experts on a one on one basis.  Through this session, students gained insights into current trends as a way of preparing themselves for the corporate world.
