School of Finance and Applied Economics Family Day Mass

Students and staff members of the School of Finance and Applied Economics (SFAE) in conjunction with the Strathmore University Chaplaincy recently celebrated Holy Mass, with the aim of praying for their families. The 12:30pm Eucharistic Celebration which was held at the University Chapel, was the third since Bishop Javier Echevarría, the Prelate of Opus Dei convoked 2015 as the Marian Year of the Family.

The chapel was filled to capacity as students and staff honoured the invitation. In his Homily, the Chaplain took the opportunity to talk about love, emphasizing that it is best seen through deeds. He encouraged all to support their families in every possible way as a show of their love for them.

The Dean of the SFAE, Dr. John Olukuru, while commenting on the huge turn up, mentioned that seeing the students and staff members from different religions and backgrounds coming out as a family to pray together, was the ultimate mark of humility. Most students appreciated the Mass noting that it was important for them to pray for their families as prayer is a solution to many family problems.
