Press Release: 16th December 2016 – Investigations update

The Strathmore University Council wishes to inform all stakeholders that the Investigative Committee for the Security Drill incident has requested a 3-day extension, which the Council has granted. The Council will now receive the Committee’s report on Friday 18th December 2015.
Upon receipt, the Council will meet immediately to study the recommendations from the report and inform stakeholders of the immediate, mid-term and long-term actions to be taken.
We wish to give an update of hospitalized staff and students. 38 staff and students were hospitalized and 37 have been discharged. One staff member remains in hospital.
We appeal to all members of the Strathmore Community to continue comforting and reaching out to friends and colleagues affected by this tragic and regrettable incident. The University is still availing counseling services to anyone affected.
As a Council, we ask for your continued patience and reassure you that we are doing everything we can to restore healing and normalcy at Strathmore University. We thank everyone for their prayers and support during this very difficult time.
