Pan Africa Strathmore Leos beat Resolution Impala Saracens

Donning their brand new kit, the Pan Africa Strathmore Leos maintained the 100% record start to the 2014-2015 Kenya Cup season in week 4 of league competition by defeating Resolution Impala Saracens 37-11. The much awaited Kenya cup fixture was hosted by Impala Saracens and was played under floodlights.
The game proved to be a battle of the forwards and was tight in the first 20 minutes, Impala were awarded a penalty taken by Fullback Sammy Oliech who was sure they get the 3 points. Leos who immediately countered with a try from Captain Brian Nyikuli who crushed his way through Impala players to score between the posts.Leos Fly Half Ken Andola converted the try.Leos started dominating all facets of the game and were rewarded with a try when Charles Omondi made a big run and off-loaded to Tony Owuor who eased through the defense making the score 14-3 after the conversion by Andola.The Leos displayed good structures of play and which bore fruit with Churchill Ooko grounding the ball after running 40m to score a in the last play of first half action. The score at half time stood at 21-3 in favour of the varsity side.
Ken Andola made sure that they continued the dominance after slotting in 2 penalties, taking the score to 27-3. The hosts got a penalty on the 52nd minute and Oliech slotted it in making it 27-6. Leos raised the intensity in search of a bonus point through scoring a fourth try. A technical substitution saw substitute Backrow Adrian Opondo come in for Lock Michael Gitau. On his first touch Adrian won a lineout and sprinted to score a try 10 meters away. Cyprian Kuto, who was playing his first Kenya cup match of the season after getting an injury while he was on national duty in the build up to the first leg of the World HSBC Sevens series, proved that he is still on form after scoring the last try for the Leos taking the lead to 37-6 in the 72nd minute of the game.
Impala Saracens responded immediately after with a try but it was too late as the game ended 37-11 in favour of the Leos who maintain top spot in the Kenya Cup table after 4 games with 20 points.
The Catullus lost to Impala II 16-34 in the ESS category.
Next week the Pan Africa Strathmore Leos will face the Echulusi, Western Bulls.
