Mr. Nephat Njeng’wa takes over as new University Secretary

Upon the retirement of Dr. Charles Sotz from the position of University Secretary, the University Council set in motion the process of his replacement as required by the University Statutes. That process was successfully concluded and consequently, the University Council appointed Mr. Nephat Njengwa, (the successful candidate) to the position of University Secretary. This appointment takes effect from 1st July, 2015. Mr. Njeng’wa has been the Executive Director, Finance since 2010.

The Management Board held a lunch to congratulate Mr. Njeng’wa on his new appointment early this week. 

 

His Profile

 

Mr. Njeng’wa is an MBA (2009) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option 2002) graduate both from the University of Nairobi. He is a certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK 1999) and a certified Public Secretary (CPS 2004). Prior to his appointment as the University Secretary, he has been the Executive Director Finance for the last five years at Strathmore University.  He has attended Program for Management Development, Strategy in Action and is currently attending the Advanced Management Program at Strathmore Business School. 

 

He is a member of Strathmore Management Board and various committees of the University Council.  He has also held the positions of Group Finance Manager at Kenya Wine Agencies Limited and Internal Audit Manager at Longhorn Publishers among others reporting to the Managing Director and the Board of Directors. Mr. Njeng’wa brings on board sixteen years of working experience attained across many sectors in the industry including Education, Manufacturing, Publishing Water Services and Business Consultancy. His key areas of competence are Financial Management, Internal Audit, Strategic and Operations Management.
