Management Development Training Programme for Catholic Scholarship Members Kicks off

An 8-day training programme for Catholic Scholarship members comprising of priests, nuns and lay students was held at Tangaza University College on 12th-21st May 2015, directed by Strathmore University School of Management and Commerce. The Scholarship Programme supports the Catholic Church to develop leadership skills through educational training, offered to potential key leaders of the church.

 

Geared towards promoting and equipping students with valuable skills in their main areas of study as well as exposing them to industrial experience, the training objective comprised of; management skills, interpersonal skills, project management, finance for non-finance managers, IT essential skills and procurement process.

 

Due to the impeccable quality of education given by Strathmore University, the Catholic Scholarship Executive Secretary Mr. Dennis Ogaro, approached the school to offer customized programs for the team. The scholarship students attending the program had backgrounds in; Education, Journalism, Justice and Peace, Computer Science, Leadership and Management, Counselling, Law and Sustainable Human Development. In addition, the team comprised of students from different countries (Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania), with participants coming from different dioceses in Kenya among them, Bungoma, Machakos, Kitale, Meru).

 

Facilitators of the pioneer program included Strathmore University lecturers Dr. Freshia Waweru, Dr. David Wang’ombe, and Ms. Selina Evelia among others.
