Lecturer Dr. Shibwabo Co-Authors Ten Papers with Students in four Months

Dr. Bernard Shibwabo has published multiple articles in international journals with undergraduate and postgraduate students. The publications have been the culmination of ongoing work that has been conducted in the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) at Strathmore University.
The publication period ranged from the end of October 2017 to early February this year. Dr. Shibwabo supervised the scholars’ work.
The first research Publication was Kennedy Njeru Munene’s in the International Journal of Computer Applications, Volume 179, Issue 19, February 2018, PP 37-44. The article explores how Tea Farming can be supported using Mobile-based Information Systems. Kennedy is currently working at @ILabAfrica Research Center and undertook the research work as part of his Master’s study at Strathmore University. The publication is accessible here.
The second research Publication was Tanya Munene’s in the International Journal of Computer Applications, Volume 180, Issue 21, February 2018, PP 18-24. In the article, they propose an Android-based Order Placement Solution for Restaurants. Tanya is a 3rd year Bachelor of Information Technology (BBIT) student at Strathmore University. Tanya did a remarkable work as part of her 2nd year studies research which was to be later accepted for publication. The publication is accessible here.
The third research Publication was Kennedy Munene’s in the International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET), Volume 4, Issue 12, December 2017, PP 1846-1859. In this article, the scholars conduct an analysis and design of a Tea Farming Information System. Kennedy is also currently working at @ILabAfrica and undertook this research work as part of his Master’s study at Strathmore University. The publication is accessible here.
The fourth research Publication was Anthony Mwathi’s in the International Journal of Scientific Research and Innovative Technology, Volume 4, Issue 10, October 2017, PP 170-189. In the article, the researchers propose a Collaborative Freelancers’ Sourcing Platform. Anthony recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in BBIT and is currently working at FluidTech Global. The fifth research Publication was Denis Gikundi Nyaga’s in the lucrative Journal of Systems Integration, Volume 8, Issue 4, October 2017, PP 29-41. The research presented the design and implementation of a Location-Based Service for Handyman Order Placement in their article. Denis recently graduated with a Master’s degree from FIT and is currently working at Equity Bank. Denis did his research work as part of his Master’s study at Strathmore University. The sixth research Publication was Kelvin Kinyua’s in the International Journal of Computer Applications, Volume 175, Issue 6, October 2017, PP 40-47. In the article, the investigators propose a Universal Mobile Money Transfer Platform to address the existing challenges of mobile money transactions across multiple networks. Kelvin graduated with a Bachelor degree in Informatics (BIF) from Strathmore. Kelvin did this excellent work as part of his 4th year studies. The publication is accessible here.
The seventh research Publication was done by Simon Mutua and Raphael Mutua in the International Journal of Computer Applications, Volume 175, Issue 7, October 2017, PP 36-42. In the article, the researchers propose an Automatic Number Plate Recognition System for Car Park Management. The system was tested at Strathmore University entrances. Simon did the work as part of his Master’s study at the University. The publication is accessible here.
The eighth research Publication was Raphael Mutua’s in the International Journal of Innovative Research and Knowledge, Volume 2, Issue 8, October 2017, PP 52-66. The scholars recommended a Prototype for Authentication of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Certificates in their article. Raphael did the work as part of his Master’s study. The ninth research Publication was Guy Nahimana’s in the Journal of Systems Integration, Volume 8, Issue 3, October 2017, PP 10-18. In the article, the scholars designed an algorithm for Recommending Rental Properties. Guy did the work as part of his Master’s study at Strathmore. The publication is accessible here.
The tenth research Publication, of Fatma Jaffer, is on Integrated Paperless Receipts for Shoppers, this article is due for publication this month in the Journal of Systems Integration. It was submitted in January this year.
Dr. Shibwabo – Director, Research and Postgraduate Studies at FIT – indicates that even more work is expected this year.
