Lecturer Collins gets recognized in University of South Carolina Upstate newsletter

PhD Researcher, Collins Odhiambo, has been working on his research titled; Smooth Goodness of Fit Tests; since July of 2013. His work involves analyzing recurrent events in the medical field focusing on recurrence of events on diseases like TB, Pneumonia, Cholera, Polio, asthma and epileptic seizures. 

 

Recently, through an exchange program between Strathmore University and University of South Carolina Upstate, the Assistant Lecturer of Strathmore Institute of Mathematical Science was featured in the USC Upstate College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) newsletter, showing the strength in partnership between the two institutions.

 

In the article, Collins is recognized as a mentee to his PhD principal supervisor, Prof. Bernard Omolo – Professor and Interim Chair Division of Mathematics and Computer Science University of South Carolina. Through his interactions and technical guidance, Collins is now closer to completing his PhD tenure. Collins is set to submit his thesis in December of this year for external examination having covered more grounds in his research work, while at the institution.

 

Collins also enjoyed a practical experience teaching international students from an international university, which showcased his teaching technics from Kenya, being deemed as impressive.

 

This recognition solidifies the new partnership that is set to continue in the years to come, with the hope of opening new doors in faculty exchange programs.
