LaLiga en Kenia

Tuesday 24th of January proved to be a special day for the 2nd-year LLB Spanish class when LaLiga officials paid a visit to the enthusiastic students during their afternoon Spanish Class. LaLiga is the Spanish football league that has existed since 1929. Football fans are familia with top clubs: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Atlético de Madrid, Villarreal…and top players will come to mind; Karim Benzema, Luka Modrić and Robert Lewandowski. The LaLiga headquarters are in Madrid and the club has managed to establish 13 offices all over the world.

Did you know that apart from football and entertainment, LaLiga is also involved in social outreach programs through the LaLiga foundation? The objective of the foundation is to transform society by instilling positive values that are closely associated with the football game such as hard work, integrity, self-improvement, collaboration, and teamwork.

The officials informed the students about projects that they run across the world and more significantly, those currently running in Kenya. It was inspiring to discover the impact LaLiga has had in Kenya. Some of the stand-out projects include charity work in slum areas. Recently, they organized a watch party in Maasai Land where people in the Maasai community came together and live-streamed a football match.

The officials also made a point to inform the students of potential courses that were available at the LaLiga Business School after the completion of their undergraduate studies. LaLiga Business School is an educational project created and promoted by LaLiga with the objective of detecting, capturing, and forming the talent of the present and the future.

The University actively collaborates with the Centro de Estudios Garrigues and the Francisco de Victoria University to train professionals in various areas of sports management. The most striking of these opportunities was the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in Sports Law at the LaLiga Business School. To top off their wonderful visit, the officials handed out branded LaLiga gifts to the students.

The students were elated to have an opportunity to interact with the officials and to know more about what they do. Appealing to the minds of young lawyers in such a creative and interesting way is no mean feat. Their next visit is now anticipated with bated breath!
