KPMG’s Visit to Strathmore

KPMG, one of the biggest audit firms with its headquarters in Netherlands visited Strathmore University for a Graduate Recruitment Program that took place on the 19th of March this year. The drive targeted fourth year students who will be graduating in June 2014 but was attended by all students. Despite the heavy downpour, they turned out in big numbers leaving the firms officials highly impressed.
KPMG is a merger of two companies; Peat Marwick International and Klynveld Main Goerdeler. It is an acronym for Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler.
The group addressed various issues that have been of main concern to the students and young professionals in general.
Why work with KPMG?
Working at the firm has several advantages including the unique induction program and the nurturing work environment.
The speakers of the day emphasized that KPMG places a high value on employees, noting that newly recruited staff are normally welcomed by friendly team players.
Employees enjoy robust learning and self development opportunities which exposes them to local and international clients presenting them with unique networking opportunities.
Strathmore University alumni working in KPMG shared their experiences and gave valuable insights on the interview process, including the various aptitude tests.
At the forum, students posed questions on how to respond to interview questions. Most of them wanted to know how to tackle the following questions:
– Who are you?
– Why are you the perfect fit for this position?
– What value will you add to our company?
The KPMG team coached the students on how to tactfully answer the questions. The team challenged the students to think carefully through the questions and customize their responses to their unique situations. They recommended the use of GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) as one of the helpful tools for preparing for interviews.
