KK Security, a GardaWorld company, and Strathmore University announced the launch of a new education access initiative. The collaboration with Strathmore University Foundation promises a full four-year scholarship for a child of KK Security staff to undertake their studies at Strathmore University, Nairobi.

Through the launch of this partnership, KK Security is committed to advancing academic achievement and fostering talent amongst the families of KK Security employees in Kenya and across the East Africa region in due course. The initiative will provide a rare opportunity to gain a full and complete scholarship at the prestigious Strathmore University at the full expense of the Company. The first scholarship recipient will be able to choose a course of study between Bachelor’s in Supply Chain and Operations Management (BSCOM), Bachelor of Business and Information Technology (BBIT), or a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM).

“This is the beginning of long-term partnership with the Strathmore University Foundation, which we are extremely excited about. Our staff are our greatest asset so if we can, in some small way, contribute towards developing future visionaries and leaders in Kenya through the children of our team, then this will be a wonderful achievement. We are passionate about this programme and look forward to seeing how our students progress in life and with their careers post their tertiary education,” Nick Arnold, Managing Director, GardaWorld East Africa, said.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be Kenyan citizens and have at least one parent or guardian who is a current employee of KK Security, working in an operational role at supervisory level or below. All applicants must be candidates of the 2021/2022 school calendar year and meet the academic achievement requirements of KCSE minimum aggregate of A, or KCSE minimum aggregate of B for applicants who reside in a marginalised area. The opening of the application process will be announced to the KK Security team directly in due course.

Strathmore University Foundation exists to advance the activities of Strathmore University, including increasing participation in, and access to, quality higher education in the country. Speaking at the launch meeting, Mr. James Kimeu, Executive Director, Strathmore University Foundation noted that, “Today marks the start of a new partnership for us, a partnership that complements the commitment of Strathmore University Foundation in believing in a better tomorrow for the youth. The goal of Strathmore is to ensure that we nurture reputable and integral professionals who will transform the society. We are grateful for this partnership, and we are confident that the relationship will bear many fruits.”

KK Security and Strathmore University look forward to opening the application window for the first GardaWorld Scholarship in 2022.
