Strathmore Jaguars and Panthers won the Kenya Volleyball Federation Central branch Universities and Colleges category tournament held over the weekend in Nyeri.

 

The men’s team, popularly known as Jaguars, was pooled alongside Mweru College, Finlays and Kimathi University. In both games, the teams hit them 3-0 sets respectively. The men’s team played rivals USIU in the quarters and beat them 3-2 in a hotly contested match.

 

The team later met Mount Kenya University and crashed them 3-0. The final game was a see-saw affair against Marakwet who averaged 6’3 in height. The Jaguars triumphed 3-2. The game lasted over 2 hours and watched by a capacity crowd.

 

The Panthers were not left behind as they easily dismissed Gathungururu Girls 3-0 in the semi finals before whipping hapless Mount Kenya University by the same score line in the finals. The team had earlier lost to power house teams, KCB and Nairobi Pipeline in the group stages.
