Industry Meets Learners at the FIT/SIMS Mini Career Fair

3rd and 4th year Strathmore University students from the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) and Strathmore Institute of Mathematical Sciences (SIMS) spent the better part of their Friday 13th October, morning networking with company representatives at a Mini Career fair. The event was organised by the university Career Development Services (CDS) department.

A total of 15 companies cutting across all sectors of the economy interacted with the students at the fair. The companies included; Typotech Kenya, Kapa Oil Refineries, Lixnet Technologies, @ILab Africa Research Centre, Andela, Kenya Climate Innovation Center, Adept Technologies, SEMA Mobile, MODE, Mondo Ride Kenya, McKinsey & Company, Dry Associates, Odyssey Capital Ltd, IDinsight and Zamara/Alexander Forbes.

The event presented students with a perfect opportunity to interact and connect with industry experts who graciously took them through existing opportunities in the market. Besides that, students were excited to learn more about the industry through the personal professional experiences shared with them by company representatives.

The event was timely as it exposed students to internship opportunities available during a period when they are about to go for long holiday.

Career fairs are a great way through which students can network and explore opportunities that exist in companies and even secure internship opportunities.
