In the spirit of love, on Friday 14th February 2020, the 11th Student Council in collaboration with the students and staff embarked on a campaign dubbed “Buy a rose, Educate a Stratizen”, to fundraise for Elimisha Stratizen which is a student– run initiative launched in 2012. This initiative unites Stratizens and fosters togetherness through fundraising to assist fellow Stratizens in need of financial aid in clearing tuition fees or accommodation costs during their stay at the University. This programme was largely motivated by a spirit of equality, solidarity and togetherness expressed within the University’s motto “UT OMNES UNUM SINT” – That all may be one.

The vision of Elimisha Stratizen is to enable Stratizens to continue with their University education comfortably. Its aim has been to raise at least Ksh.5 million converting it to a fully self-sustainable endowment fund. With the help of the Community Service Centre (CSC), class representatives, Elimisha Stratizen ambassadors and other patriotic Stratizens, the initiative has moved closer and closer to achieving its goal.

In the words of Mother Teresa: “The greatest disease in the world today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for”. It is in the same spirit that Stratizens, extend love and care to the less privileged among them through Elimisha Stratizen; an endowment fund for scholarships.

It is with this in mind that Stratizens also bought flowers for their loved ones while contributing to the student-run fund. The Student Council was able to collect Ksh. 15,000 for Elimisha Stratizen to support students in need.
