Strathmore Business School with the generous support of The Rockefeller Foundation is hosting a stakeholder’s workshop that convenes key policy makers and impact entrepreneurs in order to stimulate debate on how challenges faced by Kenyan impact investors can be addressed through appropriate policy frameworks.

The workshop will be on policy issues affecting small and medium enterprises in the Impact Investing industry as a culmination of a research that has been conducted for the last one year to inform on the impact-investing policy frameworks in the country.

Impact Investing refers to investing in enterprises, which have substantial business activities that deliberately generate measurable positive social and/or environmental impact to the society and at the same time achieve substantial direct financial returns.

Through provision of low cost housing, affordable health facilities, solar panels, and clean sanitation facilities on pay per use strategy, impact investing has contributed to increased access to sanitation, housing, health facilities, and electricity to marginalized and low income communities in Kenya.

The principal researcher for this work is Dr. George Njenga, who is the Director of The CPPC, and also the SBS Dean.
