@ILabAfrica Unveils a new Research Group

@iLabAfrica has a new research group under the name Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems Research Group.

The research group will mainly deal with real-life decision making problems solutions through artificial intelligence (Intelligent systems). It will also deal with modeling of real-world systems for human-computer interaction such as medical rehabilitation systems, machine emotional intelligence and support of robotics.

Initially the group will focus on three key areas of machine learning most applicable to the Kenyan scenario and Africa as a whole:

1. Health Monitoring Systems (Bioinformatics)

2. Opinion Mining (Natural Language Processing)

3. Intelligent Applications to support e-learning

The research group has been established by Dr. Joseph Onderi Orero who will be the Lead Investigator. Through the Safaricom Scholarship program at ILabAfrica, two of the Top students in Computing have already been recruited as Research Assistants in the Research group. The research group is likely to attract Top PhD students from all over the world with fully funded research projects. Dr. Joseph Orero will be the Research Director of the Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems Research Group.
