The university’s women’s hockey, volleyball and basketball teams will be the brand ambassadors of the newly launched Lornah Sports brand. The Lornah brand was recently unveilled at a colourful ceremony at Nairobi’s Galleria Mall with the first Lady Margaret Kenyatta as the chief guest. The first lady signed up for the gears which she used for training for the beyond zero marathon.

 

The three teams were chosen based on their top performance in the leagues. The women’ hockey team (Scorpions) finished second in the 2014 premier league and are the reigning university champions. They have five players in the national team including the vice-captain- Yvonne Karanja.

 

” We are really honored to have been selected from a long list of women’s teams in Kenya to be the brand ambassadors of this great brand. We know it comes with a lot of responsibilities considering that the founder of the brand is a multiple world champion,” said Caroline Njoki the Scorpions captain.

 

The volleyball’s and hockey team first outing in the kit was a great success as they won the university’s league on 1st March. “We are happy to have started off with the brand on a winning note, this is a sign of the great things to come,” said the Scorpion’s defender Angela Mayaka.
