Give Christian Meaning to Atrocities: Bishop Echevarrias Message to the Garissa Attack

Strathmore University united in spirit with all who were affected by the Garissa University attack, by holding mass and a vigil session at the institutions Shrine in honor of the victims on Tuesday 14th April, 2015. Shuttered dreams, lost lives, the agony of bereft parents, relatives, friends and loved ones explain the excruciating pain of the 147 students who lost their lives during the gory university attack.
The mass was celebrated by the Pro-Chancellor-Regional Vicar Rev.Dr.Silvano Ochuodho who shared Bishop Javier Echevarria- Prelate of Opus Dei’s, message consoling Kenya as a nation and particularly the families of the affected. In his letter, Bishop Echevarria encouraged all to forgive and to pray for all those who commit such atrocities. His letter also aligned with the days reading- Acts 4:32-37, drew emphasis on transmitting Christian meaning and peace in areas of our interactions.
After the celebration of the Mass, congregants attended a special prayer session at the Shrine graced by candle ambience lit in honor of the victims.
