Enterprise Development Program Students Visit China for International Business Exposure

Strathmore Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) hosted a 10 day trip to China, to provide a forum for the EDP students to get international business exposure, as well as to be part of the networking and finding new markets for their products and services in the international arena. The trip that took place from 12th to 25th October, saw to it that 25 interested participants attended; they included EDP continuing students, EDP alumni as well as Bachelor of Commerce students interested in entrepreneurship.

The Enterprise development program (EDP) offered by SEDC, is a practical program which allows entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, locally, regionally and internationally. This was the first international trip organized by SEDC and it was both educational as well as business oriented

The team visited three cities in China; Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and also visited SUN YAT SEN Business School where they had a session with a professor as well two highly successful entrepreneurs. China remains as a fast-growing and fast-changing marketplace which is mostly vibrant in the month of October due to the Canton Fair – a great trade event of comprehensiveness and specialization. At the fair, businesspersons exhibit different kinds of quality Chinese products and overseas commodities with distinctive features. It was the perfect opportunity for the SEDC Entrepreneurship students to benefit from the Fair.

SEDC intends to hold annual trips of this kind to broaden the minds of entrepreneurs as well as firm up networks.
