DVC Academic Affairs presents two Research papers on Energy in Durban and California

Strathmore University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Professor Izael Da Silva has recently written and presented two research papers in the area of energy.

 

The first Conference was in Durban, South Africa, whose main theme was PV Solar Energy, it was the first time such a conference was held in Africa. It took place from 27th – 29th March, 2014. To read an abstract of the paper, click here.

 

Prof. Da Silva thereafter made a different presentation at a conference themed ‘Innovating Energy Access for Remote Areas: Discovering Untapped Resources’. Profile of Prof. Da Silva

He is the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs in Strathmore University, as well as Director of Strathmore Energy Research Centre (SERC). He is an electrical engineer with an MSc and PhD in Power Systems working in Africa for the last 16 year on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. He is a Certified Energy Manager since 2006. His research interests include, renewable sources of energy, efficient use of energy, energy auditing, energy policy for rural electrification and development, GIS- Global Information System for Applied Energy, as well as Business Models for RET dissemination. His teaching interests include Electromagnetism, Renewable sources of Energy, Energy Conversion, and Ethics among others.
