Connecting industry with talent: The Strathmore Mini Career Fair

Career Development Services, in collaboration with School of Management and Commerce and Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, held a mini career fair on Friday 19th August 2016. The event was well attended by companies such as Pigiame, Nestle Kenya, Industrial Promotion Services, Cargill, Bare Excellence, GE, KCB, Sarova Hotels, Swiss Education Group, Ecotourism, Akilah Institute, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Five Talents Africa and Fairmont The Norfolk.
Career fairs are designed to provide students to explore career opportunities within a variety of companies at one location. Students should take advantage of these fairs to be better informed about the job market. It is a great way to learn about job openings, research companies and practice ones interviewing and networking skills.
Strathmore students had an amazing opportunity to explore their career options from an interactive and engaging session with industry experts. One of the students who attended the career fair got an internship opportunity because of her ability to convince, her outspoken nature and confidence. This is a learning point that it is not just about academic competence that sets one apart but also the soft skills that one acquires over time.
