Community Week; DAY 1- Kibera Slum visit

The enthusiastic faces, thankful hearts, warm receptions and the beautiful noise of excited children sum up the  great feelings experienced while visiting Drug Fighters School and KOPLWA (Kenya Organization of People Living with AIDS) New Hope Academy center, both located in Kibera slums. This marked the  beginning programme of the Community Week initiative organized by Community Outreach Programme (COP) at Strathmore University.

The activities that attracted the participation of 30 students and 4 staff members saw that each school received food and stationery supplies that will boost the lives of the  pupils for the near future.. Being a first time visit to Kibera for majority of the participants, the wholesome experience of rain and mud, encapsulated in with echoes of soothing thank-yous from the young ones was a perfect way to crown the charity act.

COP is celebrating it’s 10th year of service and is encouraging all to join in and simply make one person feel loved and cared for. The programme aims at benefiting destitute homes and schools with an effort of giving back to the society. This year, the programme will run for 14 days as they celebrate their 10th year anniversary.
