CEO of Nairobi Stock Exchange impressed by SFAE students

Strathmores School of Finance and Applied Economics hosted the Chief Executive of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), Mr. Peter Mwangi on Thursday 23rd January 2014 during a 1 hour, Empirical Finance class session with fourth year Bachelor of Science in Finance and Bachelor of Science Financial Economics students. The course is facilitated by Ferdinand Othieno, a practicing scholar in Finance and Financial Advisory Director at Centreprise.
The students made presentations on Modern portfolio theory highlighting the basics of creating an optimal portfolio mix under certain economic constraints with modeling presented in excel format.
In his feedback to the class, Mr. Mwangi emphasized the importance of good analytical skills in portfolio management especially in the real stock market and he was impressed to see that the concepts of maximizing securities return is delivered practically at the University and that students demonstrated a good command of excel necessary in financial analysis.
For the pioneer BBS Finance and BBS Financial Economics class, set to graduate later this year, it was great privilege to interact with Mr. Mwangi and gain insights from his wealth of experience at the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
