Castrol Mutinda: Fortunate Beneficiary of the FIT Scholarship

Castrol Mutinda, one of the top K.C.S.E student from Starehe Boys Center and School, is the proud beneficiary of the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) scholarship. Castrol joined Strathmore University this month to pursue his dream course, a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication and he was awarded a 90% scholarship.

The second born of a family of three currently resides with his elder sibling and mother; his father, who used to work in the army passed away few years back. The former Starehe Boys Center student attained a strong mean grade A of 81 points in his K.C.S.E national examination.

Being awarded the scholarship, a valuable opportunity and Castrol is determined to make the best of it. He explained, “I am deeply grateful to Strathmore University for such an amazing offer. This opportunity is going to make my tenure in Strathmore a bit easier and it came as a great relief to my mother who would have struggled to keep up with the fee payment”.  Castrol, though advised by the university dean during his entrance interview to apply for a scholarship, was not convinced he will be awarded one; it came as a surprise when he was called and awarded this on his first day of school.

On his academic excellence, Castrol explains that his success is a result of discipline and hard work; something he cultivated back in primary school. To him reading is his hobby.

Castrol plans to venture into the telecommunication industry once he is done with his studies.

We wish Castrol Mutinda all the best in his endeavors.
