Caring lays a foundation to a Wonderful Legacy – Staff Giving Week

Strathmore University staff members actively participated in the annual Staff Giving week campaign hosted by the Strathmore University Foundation (SUF) from Monday 18th September, 2017. The week was set up to create a staff giving awareness where a funds drive took place in support of Strathmore University needy students.
Since its inception in 2014, with only 98 staff members joining the noble cause, staff giving has tremendously increased with a total of 322 members contributing as at the end of 2016.
A total of Kshs. 3,150,149.60 has been raised to date, with Kshs. 1.5 Million approximately supporting 10 students each year with accommodation, stipend, transport and food allowances. Every month this year (2017) a total of Kshs. 230,000 is donated towards this cause.
At the staff giving cocktail event that culminated the funds drive week on Friday 23rd September, Strathmore University Vice Chancellor Prof. John Odhiambo once again lauded staff members for their generous giving, stating that these kinds of act strengthen the university legacy.
“The students supported would be the next professors and economists of this world. I applaud you all for taking part in this initiative. Caring for one another in such a practical way, is laying a foundation for a wonderful legacy. My pledge as promised to you at the start of this initiative is to match the giving contributed yearly, and this year is no exception,” Prof. Odhiambo stated.
The staff giving campaign has enjoyed a 65% participation from the university; 45% from academic staff, 56% from administrators and 80% from support staff members.
