Business Daily Top 40 under 40 SU Alumni Engage Law Students

The very accomplished and enterprising duo of Tim Kichumba (SU Alumnus BBIT, 2008 & MCom 2012) and Hilda Moraa (SU Alumna BBIT, 2011) came knocking at the Strathmore University Law School (SLS) last week.
They were invited as guest industry experts to share their practical entrepreneurial experiences with the Entrepreneurship Skills Class of the second year law students.
Mr. Kipchumba shared with them a presentation titled; Why you should be Entrepreneurs and how to start today. Mr. Kipchumba sold the entrepreneurial idea to the class in a very practical fashion. In his presentation, Mr. Kipchumba explained, while citing relevant examples from his personal experiences, which one needs to make the following three considerations to become an entrepreneur:
- You – Who you are? Your strengths, passion and beliefs.
- Product – What you know/have? Expertise, talents, knowledge and skills.
- Market-Who you know? Who can buy your product or service/refer you to the market?
Ms. Moraa on the other hand shared with us snippets of her book A Kenyan Start-up journey; my 10 key lessons, on her entrepreneurial journey which is now available for sale at Kshs 1,000 from her website. Engaging the class in a question and answer session, Hilda reminisced on her beautiful experiences as an undergraduate student at Strathmore, where in addition to giving her best in class, she also found time to experience outings as a Spanish Club member. She encouraged the students to:
- Discover oneself early enough in life.
- Network widely beyond friends and family to gain diverse insights and opportunities.
- Seek mentorship for experience, coaching and growth.
Mr. Tim Kipchumba is currently the Chief Finance Officer at Questworks. Tim co-founded Questworks, an integrated design building firm in Nairobi with presence in Uganda and Zambia. Learn more about Tim here.

We thank the alumni for giving back to the University and we wish them well in their endeavors.
