Africa Sports Administrators Graduate in a Colourful Ceremony

29 sports executive administrators from West, South and East Africa graduated at Strathmore University on 13th December 2013 after successfully completing a five-month course in management development sponsored by Africa’s leading television outfit, Supersports. The programme is a collaboration between Strathmore University, Wits Business School and Supersport.

 

Cabinet Secretary (Minister) for Sports, Arts and Culture, Dr. Hassan Wario was the chief guest at the event. He commended Supersports for the eight-year old initiative and challenged the graduates to return to their respective countries and change the face of sports administration for the better.

 

Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs, Strathmore University, Professor Da Silva, impressed by the quality of the graduands, wished them well as they returned back to their countries and urged them to lead their fellow country men by example. “Africa is in dire need of exemplary sports leaders. With the right leaders this continent can change the face of global sports” he concluded his remarks.

 

Supersports Head of Africa, Andre Venter, Director of Enterprise and Mr. Graham Abrahams were among dignitaries at the event.

The students completed courses in Managing People, Understanding Organisational Dynamics, Financial Information, Business Communication, Marketing, Project Management, Managing Resources and several sport-related areas.
