ACK Good Samaritan School Attend Teachers’ Enhancement Programme

12 teachers from ACK Good Samaritan School recently attended a teachers’ training programme at Strathmore University hosted by Teachers’ Enhancement Programme (TEP) through Strathmore Institute of Management and Technology (SIMT).

The one-week programme came against the backdrop of a new national curriculum aimed at addressing skill gaps among teachers.

Teachers had a wonderful time learning and engaging with each other by way of work groups.

The training exposed them to the best approaches and techniques they could effectively employ while teaching to improve on their performance.

In one of the sessions, two experienced teachers demonstrated how mathematics and science should be taught to both lower and upper primary classes to achieve the best outcomes.

Attention was given to the areas of instructional skills and classroom management, as this was an area of difficulty for most teachers.

Other topics discussed included: handling of the new curriculum, assessment and feedback, and various approaches to instructional strategies.

The teachers were awarded certificates at the end of the training.
