A Day of Joy: CPA and ACCA students graduate

Elated students, parents and friends of CPA and ACCA courses graduands were delighted to be a part of the awarding of certificate ceremony, on Friday 31st October, in an auspicious graceful occasion. The graduands, who were under the school of Accountancy (SOA), were students who finished their courses between June 2013 and June 2014.


In his key note address, chief guest Dr. Caesar Mwangi – Regional Director (GVEP International), lauded the graduands for a job well done urging them to stand out as they join the world. Dr. Caesar emphasized on the students picking up three important characteristics, “Focus on the goals you have identified. Keep trusted, it makes working together easy and keep going, even when the going gets tough.” He also commended Strathmore University stating that he left Strathmore a changed man. Dr. Caesar is an alumni of SOA.


An excited Irene Atieno Chiaji took home the 2013 CPA best lady graduate prize. Other outstanding graduands included: Nelly Cherono Sigei who was awarded five prizes in both the June 2013 CPA category and the December 2013 CPA category. Louis Makokha Buluma and Nitesh Dhanji Halai who both won three prizes in either CPA or ACCA category. Erick Oduor Obudho, Brenda Khavere Yuka, Miller Luciano Mahaga, Samuel Mbuthia Mundia and Brenda Wangechi Kinyanjui won two prizes in either CPA or ACCA. The June 2013 ACCA affiliate prizes went to Brenda Namwalo Anzetse who was third position in Kenya and 72 worldwide and Winnie Wairimu Mbugua who was second position in Kenya and 68 worldwide. The June 2014 ACCA affiliate prize went to Faith Wangari Githongo who was second position in Kenya and 59 worldwide.


In his thanksgiving remarks, Dr. Jim McFie – Director School of Accountancy, Strathmore University, congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to join ICPAK (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya). He also commended the prize winners and reminded them to add that achievement to their curriculum vitae.

Strathmore University chorale did not miss being part of such wonderful celebrations. The team entertained guests to beautiful, cheerful, merriment songs before the awarding of certificates and at the end of the ceremony.
